About the Region

Seogwipo is the first name many divers associate with Jeju. Leaving the harbor, Munseom, Beomseom, and Seopseom come into view one after another, with dive sites packed into the waters between them. Above the surface, the city carries the warm atmosphere of southern Jeju; below it, soft corals and volcanic rock reveal the colors that define the island.

The strength of Seogwipo is its range. Sites can be chosen based on the experience of the team, the conditions of the day, and the kind of scene divers want to see. Even two or three dives on a short visit can leave a vivid impression of Jeju, while repeat visitors begin to appreciate how distinct each island and site can feel.

Diving Information

Boat rides are generally short, making it easy to plan two or three dives in a day. Depending on the site, a dive may follow a vertical wall, trace a gentle slope, or linger beside soft-coral colonies for photography. Pay close attention to the entry point, the terrain used as a reference after descent, and the direction of the return route when current builds.

Soft corals, damselfish, jacks, and seasonal pelagic fish are among the main attractions. In good visibility, island walls and coral gardens unfold in a single view. On cloudier days, the same sites reward a slower approach focused on nearby color and marine life. Both wide-angle and macro photographers will find opportunities, but precise buoyancy is especially important around delicate soft coral.

Difficulty varies widely. Some sites are comfortable for new divers, while deeper walls and current-exposed areas call for more experience. First-time visitors should begin with a relaxed checkout dive, then progress to walls or current as their comfort and condition allow.
